TomTom recently introduced GO Mobile, a new navigation app for iPhone with TomTom Traffic, is now available globally, on the App Store. Drivers can upgrade to unlimited driving with a simple in-app purchase.

The new app replaces TomTom’s old satnav app and completely changes the fee structure, giving you free navigation, speed cameras and traffic for 50 miles a month, every month.

Your free miles in the app will get refilled each month, and those that drive more often can also pay to upgrade to unlimited. Customers of the old TomTom apps will get a free upgrade to TomTom Go Mobile unlimited. The upgrades to unlimited miles are easily available as in-app purchases for €19.99 for 1 year or €44.99 for 3 years, similar to pricing for TomTom’s mobile apps before the new free app.

After you have used your 50 miles, you will have to subscribe to retain the turn-by-turn navigation, traffic and speed camera functions, although browsing, route planning and a traffic overview always available, whether you subscribe or not.

You will find this in the Play store as TomTom UK & Ireland which is a misnomer as the app provides maps from all around the world, 111 in total – all of your Android phone (and international data roaming contract) can eat, with speed camera support for the most popular 40.

The app packs in features from the company’s previous apps, but it also includes a global map license, meaning you will be able to use this new app across 150 countries where supported. It also includes offline maps and TomTom’s real-time traffic features, all of that are available to both paid and free users.
